About Us
A Community for Adults with Learning Disabilities
From our base at St Faith’s Community Centre in Herne Hill, we run weekly sessions that bring people together through creativity, movement and shared experiences. Whether it’s art, music, drama or social activities, everything we do is designed to support wellbeing, independence and connection.
We also run gardening sessions at our allotment in Nunhead, giving learners the chance to spend time outdoors, grow their own plants and enjoy a different pace of activity in a calm, open space.
Why We Exist
Stepping Stones was established in 1997 as part of St Faith’s Youth and Community Centre in response to a lack of accessible activities for adults with learning disabilities in the local area. We became an independent registered charity in 2005 and are still proudly based at St Faith’s, right in the heart of the community.
While services have changed over the years, the need for what we offer hasn’t gone away. Many of the people we support can still be overlooked or face barriers to taking part in everyday community life. We’re here to create a space where that’s different. A space where people can come together, try new things, build confidence and enjoy being part of something.
We believe everyone has something to offer, something to enjoy and something to aspire to.
